Looking to buy my first car but it has problems?

My advice would be to buy a "Haynes" repair book on that car. I personally like that brand for starting out because the first section has a list and description of a lot of the tools used for auto repair, bolt types, etc. Even if you don't plan to do all the repairs yourself, you would at least have an idea of what needs to be done, and less chance of being screwed by a mechanic. If your plugs are getting fouled that quick, you could have a rusted fuel tank, fuel too rich, oil getting into the chamber, etc. The squealing could be from a lose belt, bad bearing in the alternator, water pump (but those usually don't squeak loudly) etc. Finding a problem with any car can be a trial and error process... Good Luck!
