The wizard of oz/1930's comparison?

My friend is stubron about characters from the movie the wizard of oz related to the 1930 and I told him no that he's wrong that those to things can be conapred and he's like yes they can so can you please help me figure this out these are the characters he gave me / the wicked witch, the good witch, the wizard of oz, Dorothy and toto, tin man, scarecrow, lion, tornado and these are the people he gave me to match them with and tell him why there similar / the American citizen, herbert Hoover , the stockmarket, the human family/ courage, the human family/heart, the human family/brain, duststorms, Franklin d.
