MY FATHER WAS IN THE NAVY IN THE 70'S AND HE WENT TO THE VATICAN A PREIST TOLD HIM JESUS WAS BLACK?

my father has traveled to many diffrent countrys in the 70's, he visited the vatican, he asked one of the preist what color was Jesus? the priest told him in one of the original bibles they had there it discribes jesus as a dark skined man... does any one else belive this??? i mean it dosent matter to me i still belive in God, but if this is true why dosent the vatican let it be known??
