Digital Camera Problem!?

I am a photographer by hobby, and just recently encountered a problem with my Fuji S7000 that I have never experienced before. Before this weekend, my camera has been working fine, except for a smudge on the inside lens that I have been meaning to get cleaned. Yesterday, however, a large white crescent started covered half my image, and sometimes all of it. Yet....the video function wsa flawless. Any thoughts?
