Is this considered as a DC Generator?

i need to build a DC generator for my DC motor in my tech. cl and it's due next week, the instructor says that i could use any machine/tool which converts mechanical energy (into electrical energy, since the meterials to build a "generator" is too expensive(lol, im one of thoes cheap sticks) so i decided to make electrolyte with zinc sulfate&copper sulfate.. lol,tis just a simple manipulation of a battery, so i was wondering if some could tell me if this is considered as a DC "generator" logically. If not, perhaps some one could tell me where i could buy the meterails to build a "normal Generatot", tytytyty very much :)
