What would be a better choice mtb gt avalanche 3.0 (rim brake) marin bolinas ridge all opinions welcome?

my mate has a gt avalanche and he says its a great bike. it depends on what u want it for though. if u want to use it for cross country/trails maybe even a little bit of dirt jump then yes get the avalanche.
