Do i need to upgrade my ECU to run forced induction on my car?

I own a 1996 audi a4 2.8 12V. There are not ECU upgrades becuase it is not a flash ecu. If i added a turbo charger running 4-6 psi of boost, would I need to change the ecu or could I just let it run?
